* Soul Stories *
New Orleans is a city rooted deeply in
history, mystique, culture and music.   Jazz,
Blues, Funk, Brass, Hip-Hop, Pop, Metal,
R&B, Zydeco and several other styles of
music, can all be found in the heart of the
Crescent City.  It's said that almost every
night somewhere in New Orleans  a
musician is being born.

In the late 80's, early 90's a "new" genre of
music was thrust  into the music industry.
Coined 'neo-soul' this music encompasses
a fusion of R&B, 70's soul music, jazz, blues
and hip-hop.  Combining a provocative and
truthful view of social commentary, matters
of the heart and the state of music itself,
with a creative, soulful, moving sound
'neo-soul artists perfectly blend every genre
that make up their music.

Locally, soul music has continued to evolve
since the 1970's, combining in that
evolution everything that is New Orleans.
Thus adding spice to the Gumbo with a little
music for the soul.

The soulofno.com is dedicated to the
promotion and preservation of the power
and legacy of Soul Music.
